Park Week

Plan a week, not a fantasy itinerary.

Guide

Pack for the road report, not the postcard

Each hub lists a short packing focus. This page is the shared kit plus the mistakes that show up in every climate: cotton in a river, a windbreaker in the Hoh, and a single water bottle on South Kaibab.

You do not need a separate personality for each park. You need a rain layer that works, more water capacity than your commute, and the humility to bring traction in May. Leave the “full backpacking loadout” at home unless the hub is actually an overnight permit trip — none of ours are.

Park-specific add-ons

What not to pack as identity

Crampons for a Pa’rus walk. A drone. A speaker. Cotton for the Virgin River. A brand-new blister-prone boot on day 2 at Cedar Ridge. The packing list is how you keep the week boring in the right ways.
